Time for the next former employee feature. Each month we’re highlighting one of our fine cousins (what we call our employees) who has left us and moved on to a new place in their working life. Once a cousin, always a cousin.

Name: Carson McDonald

Iron Horse Brewery: Position at Iron Horse Brewery?

Carson McDonald: Packaging Technician. Resident Tall Guy.

IHB: That was the real reason we hired you. It’s nice having people around to reach things we might need.

IHB: What years did you work at IHB?

CM: May 2016 – March 2017

IHB: We wish you would’ve stayed until Cousinfest ‘18 at least. You missed out on 80s prom and your suit that you wore in the picture above would’ve killed.

IHB: What is your favorite IHB beer?

CM: Hand Cannon is my current favorite. Previously fingergun. Pew pew.

IHB: Enjoy the last few pew pews because fingergun is going away, permanently.

IHB: Where do you work now?

CM: Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Wenatchee, WA

IHB: That sounds really responsible and adult like. Also, fiscally responsible.

IHB: What do you do at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company (wow, that is a mouthful)?

CM: I run a financial planning practice.

IHB: Maybe you can teach us a few things so we can figure out how to fund our expansion and global domination of the beer market.

IHB: How are you doing better now that you’ve moved on from IHB?

CM: I don’t have to be to work at 5:30am, which is nice, and my work is intellectually stimulating.

IHB: We’re still here at 5:30 a.m. so if you want to tweet us at that time we’ll probably reply.

IHB: Is there one thing that working at Iron Horse Brewery helped you to get where you are now? Conversely, how did we ruin things for you?

CM: Working in production at the brewery helped me get to where I’m at today because Morgan hired me when I couldn’t find work anywhere else. Times were tough, and IHB gave me a platform to build on. Furthermore, working in packaging made me want to leave packaging, and thus started my movement back to my hometown of Wenatchee.

The only thing IHB ruined for me were some leather boots and blue jeans.

IHB: Beer tends to do that to all clothing.

IHB: What is your favorite mythical creature?

CM: Dragon. Duh.

IHB: Ross would agree with you.

IHB: What is your most memorable moment with us at IHB?

CM: So many. Probably destroying Morgan and Jake at Wii Golf. Also, heated games of foosball and Greg’s reactions when he would lose to Adam, taste testing ice cold Irish Death with Alex at 5 a.m., hiding Josh’s water bottle, bonding with Dane over Dave Matthews Band, pissing Tyson off with our music choices, talking to Adam Highfill about fishing, hot laps in snow around the brewery, and pressure washing random things to avoid actual work, and watching Tyler get upset about anything.

IHB: The Tyler you’re referring to has also left us. We have a new Tyler now, but no new Carson. Also, Adam is still destroying Greg at foosball.

IHB: On a scale of 1 to 10.3 how much do you miss working at Iron Horse?

CM: Zero. I miss the people, not the work. Thank you all for some great memories. Have fun with the bottler. HA!

IHB: Your honesty is refreshing. And the people are still here if you ever want to come grab a beer at [ the pub ] with us.
